About us
The RETRIEVE Digital Product Passport demonstrator is developed at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), within the Institute for Data Applications and Security (IDAS). Our work explores how software can maintain and connect product information throughout the photovoltaic lifecycle.
Institute for Data Applications and Security
IDAS conducts applied research in information technology, data applications and digital security. The BFH team brings this expertise to information systems for Digital Product Passports.

The BFH team develops a demonstrator for structured records of individual photovoltaic modules. It connects each module with shared type information and material composition, and supports contributions from different lifecycle actors. Published passport versions preserve a history of the information recorded over time.
Our research also considers software architecture for maintaining product information over long periods. Cross-platform federation, external integration of installation and maintenance sources, and recycling workflows remain outside the current demonstrator.
